SLBS Admissions Policy

The school admits:

  1. Year 7 September intake – boys who attain the required standard for selective education under the procedures arranged by Kent County Council (PESE);
    The School’s Admissions Number in Year 7: 120
  2. Subsequent admission (subject to places being available after September of Year 7) – Boys who have passed the PESE procedure elsewhere or meet the required standard in school delivered tests.

Criteria for Over-Subscription

Where the number of applicants who attain the required standard exceeds the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied in the order of priority set out below:

  1. Up to three places in Year 7 (to a maximum of fifteen in the school) will be allocated to boys with a statement of Special Education Needs indicating Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome or an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
  2. Boys in Local Authority Care
  3. Boys with a brother or sister currently at the school;
  4. Boys whose parents can prove that they have a particular medical or social reason supported in writing by a medical practitioner, social worker or educational welfare officer as appropriate, which the governors are satisfied makes attendance at the school essential;
  5. Proximity to the boy’s home, with those living nearer being given the higher priority.
