Eco Schools

Eco-Schools is an international award programme, run in 46 countries, that encourages schools to reduce their impact on the environment.
To achieve Green Flag status, the top award, schools have to show that they have made significant progress across nine areas. The Langton was awarded its first Green Flag in 2007, making us the first secondary school in the area to achieve Green Flag status. We can’t rest on our laurels though; the flag has to be renewed every two years.

The links show what we’ve getting up to in each of the nine Eco-School theme topics.

  • At the Langton we have an Eco-Council, which runs projects associated with Eco-Schools.

Eco Council representatives are elected at the begining of the year in each form group but other students may join the Council if they ask Mrs Bennett and have an interest in the environment.

The Eco-Council meets weekly during Thursday Week A activity time.
