The Library is an area for study, research and reading. It is open daily during term-time from 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday and from 8.30am - 3.45pm on Friday. Years 12 and 13 sttudents may spend their private study periods in the Library. Homework club runs from 3.45pm - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday. Bags may not be brought into the Library during break and lunchtime. Students may borrow 3 books for 4 weeks. Staff, student librarians and library monitors have unlimited loans. Books from the Careers Collection are normally restricted to an overnight loan. If a book is required for longer it may be renewed. Fines for overdue books are charged at the rate of 10p per week. The Library contains approximately 8,000 volumes. There is a large fiction collection, a reference section and material to support the National Curriculum as well as books of general interest. There is also a range of daily newspapers and periodicals. Suggestions for stock from staff and students are always welcome. Book circulation is managed via the BISCIT system. The Library catalogue can be accessed from the computer and searches can be carried out by title, author, keyword, series and publisher. Photocopying facilities are available and a stationery outlet sells a range of stationery to all students. The Library is staffed by the Librarian, Mrs Jones who is assisted by a team of of Student Librarians from Years 8 - 12 and Library Monitors from Year 7.
