The Sixth Form Learning Agreement
The Student Learning Agreement is intended to give students a clear understanding of what they can expect from the Sixth Form and what will be expected of them in return.
Under this agreement Simon Langton Sixth Form will endeavour to provide:
- A programme of courses that is delivered by qualified and effective members of staff using appropriate facilities and resources.
- A friendly, caring and supportive environment.
- A tutor who monitors your progress, provides guidance and assurance in setting targets for improvement.
- The provision of structured guidance for the use of private study time, including the regular setting and marking of formal work to be tackled during private study time, in a place set aside by the school.
- Support in developing good study skills and coping with stress.
- Support for any special needs you may have.
- The opportunity to take part in enrichment and extra curricular activities.
- A careers programme suited to your needs with easy access to expert careers advice.
- Opportunities each year for your parents to come in to school to discuss your progress.
- One set of written reports each year and a half-termly continuous assessment report.
In return, you will be expected to:
- Be determined to make the most of your time in the Sixth Form.
- Accept responsibility for your own learning with support of your subject tutors and form tutor.
- Understand that you will be expected to do a great deal of your Sixth Form work outside of school hours and under your own steam.
- Complete all work to the required standard by the required deadline.
- Use your private study time in school effectively.
- Attend all lessons punctually. As a full time student you will be expected to be in school from 8.50 am to 3.25 pm and to attend both morning and afternoon registration, Some home study can be negotiated with your tutor after the first term of Year 12.
- Inform your tutor in advance if you need to be away from school for any good reason and fill in an appropriate form.
- Sign in or out, as appropriate, at all times.
- Act as a positive role model for the younger students in the school.
- Respect the individual rights of all members of the school community and behave according to the whole school code of conduct.
- Contribute to the life of Simon Langton School through enrichment activities and by taking on responsibilities.
- Adhere to the Sixth Form dress code.
- Accept that you may be asked to leave Simon Langton if the above conditions are not met.
